New Mexico Society of Anesthesiologists

Annual Meeting Saturday, Feb 28th, 2015

Message from NMSA President

Dear Friends,

Season's Greetings! I think many of us will agree that the privilege we have to practice anesthesiology with its many rewards and instant gratification is something truly to be thankful for.  To be at a patient's side in their most vulnerable time is something we should always cherish and hold dear.  I hope amidst the hustle and bustle of the season, we can contemplate our commitment to our specialty and rededicate ourselves to its future and our patients to an even greater degree.

We are happy to announce the "Clinical Anesthesia- Best Practice 2015" annual meeting. You may have seen the 'Save the Date' email that announced the meeting.  This is the one time during the year that we can come together and be instructed on how to be better at what we do.  We have lined up an outstanding group of speakers and anticipate that this will again be the premier anesthesia-oriented educational event in New Mexico for the year.  The speakers are experts in their individual fields and their presentations will be greatly anticipated.  The meeting will be Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at the Sandia Casino.  The NMSA will set aside a block of rooms for those coming from outside of Albuquerque and they can be reserved on a first come first serve basis.

In addition to the CMEs being offered, great presentations, and exciting new products being presented by vendors in our field, we will also have the ASA Director of Public Relations give sessions on the "When Seconds Count" leadership spokesperson training.  This will be a time for us to hone our skills as representatives of our specialty to communicate with the public and legislators alike.  There will be sign up during the registration process if you're interested. This, too, will be first come first serve.

Furthermore, the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center will offer simulator training at the 'BATCAVE' (   For those involved in MOCA for ongoing certification, UNMHSC is one of a few centers in the Southwest where this testing occurs.  There is no greater place to engage in this simulation than right here in Albuquerque.

We hope you'll mark your calendars and make plans now to attend the NMSA's meeting at Sandia Resort and Casino. There will be a brochure outlining the agenda for the day that will be mailed soon.  We will also have several positions available as well for election and a subsequent email will be mailed in January to announce those openings if you're considering getting involved to a greater degree.  We are all members of a great society and it's what we ALL do that makes a difference.  Hope to see you all soon.  Click here to register
